Police in India use digger to rescue pup stranded due to overflowing reservoir

Police officials in southern India's Telangana used a digger to rescue a dog that had become stranded by an overflowing reservoir.

The rescue operation was carried out on September 16 at Kesari Samudram Reservoir in the Nagarkurnool district.

Footage from the rescue operation shows Mujeeb, a Home Guard Officer risking his own life to save the helpless animal.

Mujeeb can be seen in the bucket of the excavator moving closer to the dog.

He lowers himself into the fast-flowing water to draw the dog into his arms while holding onto a thick cable to prevent being swept away by strong currents.

Mujeeb and the rescued dog are then brought onto the safe ground while a group of onlookers gathered at the scene cheer to celebrate the operation.
