Freelance journalist arrested in Delhi for passing sensitive information to Chinese intelligence

Special Cell Delhi Police on September 19 informed about the arrest of freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma under Official Secrets Act for passing defense and strategic information to Chinese intelligence from 2016 to 2018.

Special Cell Delhi Police, DCP Sanjeev Kumar said, "A Chinese woman and her Nepalese associate also arrested for paying him large amounts of money routed through shell companies.

He used to meet them at several locations in different countries.

His 2 associates-a Chinese woman and Nepalese man, have a company in Mahipalpur, from where they exported medicines to China.

Money sent from China was given to agents here.

As per probe, transactions of Rs 40-45 lakhs have taken place in last 1 yr.

With the arrest of accused persons, north district of Delhi Police busted an interstate racket of drug peddlers. The gang members used to hire ambulances to smuggle the drugs. As a result of continuous intelligence gathering, the police team received secret information that drug peddlers are coming to Mori Gate to supply drugs to local distributors. With the arrest of two accused persons from IGI Airport, Delhi Police has worked out a blind murder case within 48 hours of the incident in which a dead body of a male was found in a jungle area near IGI Airport. A PCR call about a murder was received in Police Station IGI Airport. Immediately a police team rushed to the place of information at jungle area. At the spot, the dead body of one male person was found lying there. The scene of crime was photographed and the exhibits were lifted. On the statement of the complainant, a case was registered at P.S. IGI Airport, New Delhi. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the deceased was last seen with three persons namely Bhujang, Balak and Nepali in the jungle area. The witness of the incident was traced by a police team and the two accused persons arrested at the instance of the witness. During the interrogation, both the accused persons confessed their crime. Further, investigation of the case is underway.
