The clip, filmed on November 1, 2019 shows Joseph hearing his mother's voice properly and becoming overwhelmed and crying before giving a small grin and crying again.

Joseph's mum, Billiejean told Newsflare: "It was a very special moment for both Joseph and us.

Joseph failed his newborn screening at birth and was later diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural bilateral hearing loss following several tests.

"When he heard for the first time with hearing aids his initial response was to cry, however after a couple of days he began to react to sound with smiles."
