Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on being asked about recent losses in Bihar assembly polls and by-polls said that "people in the party have lost connection on ground." "We all are worried about losses, especially about Bihar and by-polls results.
I don't blame the leadership for the loss.
Our people have lost the connection on the ground.
One should be in love with their party," said GN Azad.
He further added, "Polls aren't worn by 5-star culture.
Problem with leaders today is if they get a party ticket, they first book a 5-star hotel.
Appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event in Jammu, Congress senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that even though they are political rivals, he likes how PM Modi does not hide his true identity. "I like lot of things about many leaders. I am from village and I feel proud. Even our PM hails from village and used to sell tea,' he added. He further said that those who do hide their true identity, they are "living in bubble." Azad was felicitated with Sher-E-Gurjar award by a charitable trust in Jammu.
A group of leaders who had earlier written to Indian National Congress chief Sonia Gandhi seeking reform in the party, held an event in Jammu on February 27. The programme was held in honour of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who recently retired from Rajya Sabha. He even received a tearful farewell from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
