Election Commission imposed a 24-hour campaign ban on Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh. The ban has been imposed over his 'there will be Sitalkuchi in several places' remarks. Commission 'sternly' warned Ghosh and advised him to desist from using such statements. Four people died in a firing incident by CISF in Sitalkuchi during the fourth phase of polls. Officials had said the jawans opened fire after they came under attack from locals. The campaign ban on Ghosh will be in effect from 7 pm April 15 to 7 pm April 16. Reacting to EC's order, Ghosh said he will not stage dharna unlike CM Mamata Banerjee. Earlier, Ghosh was also sent notice by EC for his alleged remarks over the Sitalkuchi incident. Poll campaign has seen EC clamping down on several leaders for objectionable utterances. EC earlier barred Mamata from campaigning for 24 hours for remarks against central forces.

Ghosh blamed the Bengal CM for deaths in Cooch Behar during the fourth phase of polling. “She (Mamata) is targeting the Election Commission and giving direction to loot EVMs. Mamata Banerjee is completely responsible for the deaths (in Sitalkuchi). She is not following the decision taken by EC and is sitting on dharna. She, who protests against SC and the Constitution, will never follow law,” said Ghosh. Mamata is sitting on dharna next to a Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Kolkata's Mayo road. EC imposed a 24-hour ban on the TMC supremo from campaigning in any manner. Ban has been imposed over Mamata's remarks against the central forces. Meanwhile, EC also issued a notice to Ghosh for his remarks on the Sitalkuchi incident.

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis accused Maharastra Police of harassing a Daman-based Remdesivir supplier for agreeing to supply a stock of the drug to the state on the request of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. “We had requested Bruck Pharma to supply a stock of Remdesivir vials to Maharashtra. They said they couldn't until permissions were given. I spoke with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and got Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s permission. Tonight around 9 pm, the police arrested him," said Fadnavis. He added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manjunath Singe told they had inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and they only wanted to verify the same.
