CBI has booked former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over corruption allegations. The probe agency also carried out searches at various locations in Mumbai on Saturday. Corruption charges against Deshmukh were levelled by ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh. CBI had carried out preliminary enquiry on Bombay HC orders to look into the allegations. Officials said CBI got enough prima facie material during enquiry to start a formal probe. CBI has registered an FIR against Deshmukh under the Prevention of Corruption Act. After lodging case, CBI started a search operation at a number of locations in Mumbai. On March 25, Param Bir Singh filed criminal PIL seeking a CBI probe against Deshmukh. Singh claimed Deshmukh had asked cops including suspended Sachin Waze to extort money. Singh had made the revelations after he was transferred as Mumbai Police Commissioner. Deshmukh, who is an NCP leader, resigned from the State cabinet on April 5.

Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar lashed out at Maharashtra government over extortion allegations against Anil Deshmukh and Sachin Waze case. "It is clear that Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is actually 'Maha Vasooli Aghadi'. Its common minimum programme is 'collect money through police'," said Prakash Javadekar.

As the National Investigation Agency's probe into the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare continues, CCTV footage of main accused Sachin Vaze surfaced. The footage, dated March 4 at 7 pm, reportedly showed the suspended police officer going to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. He was dressed in a shirt and trousers. The following day, i.e. March 5, Mansukh Hiran was found dead in Thane. He was the owner of the car found with explosive near Ambani's house on February 25. Watch the full video for more.

In the latest development in Mansukh Hiren death case, a CCTV footage has surfaced purportedly showing Sachin Waze going to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 7 pm on March 05. Waze had taken a local train to Thane that day. He was brought to CSMT on April 05 for scene recreation. Officials from Pune's Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) were also present. Waze is an accused in the death case of Mansukh Hiran, the businessman who owned the explosive-laden car parked outside Mukesh Ambani's house Antilia on February 25. Body of Mansukh Hiren was found at Kalwa creek in Thane on March 05.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 28 laid foundation stone for extension of terminal building at Gorakhpur Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Civil Aviation Minister (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri was also present during the event. Dignitaries also flagged off an Alliance Air flight from Gorakhpur to Lucknow under RCS-UDAN on this occasion. The existing terminal building commissioned in the year 2018 was designed to cater 100 passengers and has an area of 1890 sqm. Thus, to increase the passenger handling capacity of the airport and make the airport suitable for Airbus 320 type of Aircraft, AAI has planned the extension of the existing terminal building at a cost of Rs 26.87 crore. Spread in an area of 3440 sqm, the extended terminal will be equipped with 10 check-in-counters and two conveyor belts in arrival hall. The new expanded building will have escalators, lifts and enough space for a restaurant and commercial activities. Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to develop airport infrastructure in the country and provide the world-class services.

The Kohinoor public parking of the centre was converted into a vaccination centre, wherein people can sit in their cars and get inoculated. Mumbai-based businessman Ketan Rawal is providing his vanity vans to Mumbai Police for free to facilitate police personnel who are serving in scorching heat. Last year, he gave 19 vanity vans to Mumbai Police and this year he already gave 12 of his vans and is planning to give more vans. "I am also ready to provide vans to hospitals to add a number of beds there," Rawa said to ANI. Many people like him are stepping forward to help the needy people amid COVID pandemic.
The COVID-19 vaccine went out of stock at BKC Jumbo vaccination centre in Mumbai on April 20. The boards reading 'vaccine out of stock' were put up outside the vaccination centre. Dean of BKC Jumbo Vaccination Centre, Rajesh Dere said, "We had 350-400 Covishield doses, we've administered it. We're awaiting more doses. Around 2000 Covaxin doses are available for second dose that is being administered. We have received information that we will get the Covishield doses by this evening. If that happens, we will begin vaccination tomorrow. We realised last night about the shortage of Covishield doses." Mumbai Police made announcement for the general public, outside BKC jumbo vaccination centre to not gather at the gates of the centre.
BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis, has alleged that Mumbai Police on April 17 arrested a remdesivir supplier whom BJP had approached to supply the anti-viral drug to the state amid the surge in COVID cases. Fadnavis said, "Four days ago we had requested Bruck Pharma to supply us (Remdesivir) but they couldn't until permission was given. I spoke with Union Min Mansukh Mandviya and we got FDA's permission, but at about 9 pm, police arrested him (supplier)." LoP visited the police station where the supplier was held. "DCP told us that they received inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and wanted to verify the same. We showed them permission letter. He (DCP) said it wasn't communicated to them. Whatever happened was wrong," said Devendra Fadnavis.

The Special Court today extended the National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody of suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze till April 7 while also directing NIA to provide all medical aid to Waze. Waze is an accused in Mansukh Hiren death case. Waze was in NIA custody till March 25, for his alleged role and involvement in placing the explosives-laden vehicle outside the residence of Ambani. Later his custody was extended till April 3.
NIA will produce Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze before a holiday court on Sunday, seeking his custody to probe him for his alleged role in the Mukesh Ambani security scare case. The case will be heard at NIA sessions court in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda. Sachin Vaze was arrested late on Saturday after he allegedly confessed to his role. Before his arrest, the assistant police inspector was questioned for nearly 12 hours. The 49-year-old Mumbai Police official was the lead investigator in the Ambani case. Vaze's link to the explosive-laden vehicle's owner was also established during probe. Explosives were recovered from a car parked near Mukesh Ambani's house, Antilia. The car was found abandoned at Carmichael Road in South Mumbai on February 25. Owner of the vehicle, Mansukh Hiren, was found dead in a creek in Thane on March 12.
