Embarrassment for Congress as ex-leader joins ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

PC Chacko was inducted into NCP by party chief Sharad Pawar.

Congress is part of ruling alliance with NCP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

On March 10, Chacko had quit Congress, calling it rudderless ship.

Chacko claimed there was no place for merit in the Congress.

"I am happy to be part of a party which is functioning, active and a party moving with a direction," he said.

“This is like homecoming.

I had the opportunity and privilege to work with Pawar Sahab in Cong's most difficult days.

United opposition must emerge as alternative to BJP.

I didn't see that initiative in my last party (congress),” he added.
