Ex-Met Police officer pleads guilty to being serial rapist
A serving police officer has pleaded guilty to 49 offences, including 24 counts of rape and 9 counts of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.
Appearing at the Old Bailey in December, he initially pleaded guilty to 43 charges relating to 11 women between 2004 and 2020.
But the 48-year-old denied 7 further charges until today.
Carrick, a former armed officer who worked on the parliamentary estate, committed the offences between 2003 and 2020.

The father of one of the Reading terror attack victims said the families are trusting the judge to make recommendations at the inquest conclusion that will âprevent other families from facing the pain, heartbreak and loss that we must live with every dayâ. Speaking outside of the Old Bailey on Friday morning, Gary Furlong, the father of James, said: âIt is now almost four years since our boys, James, Joseph and David were taken from us in the murderous terror attack by Khairi Saadallah in Forbury Gardens. A woman who was shot dead outside a police station 21 years ago was unlawfully killed, a jury has concluded. Sabina Rizvi was 25 when she was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in March 2003 outside Bexleyheath police station in south-east London. An inquest into Ms Rizvi's death at the Old Bailey has been looking into whether officers at Bexleyheath police station knew that a gangland feud posed a risk to Sabina's life. The deaths of the Reading terror attack victims were "probably avoidable" and contributed to by the failings of multiple agencies, an inquest has found.
Friends James Furlong, 36, Joseph Ritchie-Bennett, 39, and David Wails, 49, were stabbed to death by Khairi Saadallah, now 29, in Forbury Gardens on 20 June 2020.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers said the King's return to duties is a sign he is "on the way to recovery." Buckingham Palace confirmed today that His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.
