UK government blocks Scotland’s new gender recognition law | Oneindia News *International
In a "full-frontal attack" on the Scottish parliament as described by Nicola Sturgeon, the UK government has blocked Scotland's gender reform bill in an unprecedented intervention.
The law intended to allow trans people in Scotland to change their legal gender without a medical diagnosis.
The UK government's move has added fuel to the already highly emotional debate over Scottish independence.
Reform UK’s Deputy Leader Richard Tice said it was a “remarkable” result for his party after they came third behind SNP and Scottish Labour who won the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-elections in a shock result. Tice also said he was “sad” to see party chair, Zia Yusuf, leave.

Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar has hailed his party’s shock victory in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-elections, saying the results sent a “clear message” from the Scottish people, who he says are “sick of the SNP” and “reject the poison of Farage”. Scottish Labour stunned the SNP to win the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election by just 602 votes, whilst Reform UK beat the Conservatives into third place, just 800 votes shy of the SNP in second.
