In a dramatic escalation, the Israeli Air Force launched a precision night raid targeting the Houthi-controlled Galaxy Leader cargo ship ā a vessel seized in 2023 and used as a propaganda symbol by Yemenās Houthi forces. The IDF says the ship was repurposed for surveillance and terror coordination in the Red Sea, following the year-long captivity of 25 international crew members.
This strike was part of Israelās broader retaliation campaign under "Operation Black Flag" against Houthi infrastructure. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that any tool used to threaten Israeli citizens would be eliminated ā and this ship was no exception.
