U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken concluded a long-anticipated visit to China yesterday.
He also met Chinese President Xi Jinpingin the last leg of his visit after two days of talks with other senior officials.
His meeting with the Chinese President was only confirmed by the U.S. State Department shortly before it took place.
The visit was an attempt to repair the deteriorating relationship between the two countries, which Blinken had described as "one of the most consequential in the world." Antony Blinken is the first U.S. Secretary of State to visit China since 2018… and he is also the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office.
Blinken's trip had aimed to built on previous meetings between the officials of the two nations.
In May, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan had met China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, in Austria.
That was followed up by a visit from top Chinese commerce officials to Washington, D.C.
But the progress, at best, was mixed.
Earlier this month, China's defense chief Li Shangfu had rejected a meeting request from U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin because the U.S. had sanctioned Li in 2018 for procuring Russian-made weapons for the Chinese military.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will stand alongside Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping at Beijing’s massive “Victory Day” military parade next week, marking a rare international appearance for the reclusive leader. China’s foreign ministry confirmed Kim’s attendance, calling it a symbol of the nations’ “traditional friendship.” The parade, marking 80 years since China’s war against Japan and the end of World War Two, will showcase thousands of troops, tanks, aircraft, and new anti-drone systems. For Xi, hosting Kim and Putin in Beijing is a major diplomatic win, signaling China’s central role in global geopolitics at a time when US President Donald Trump pushes for talks with both leaders. South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung has also been invited, raising the possibility of a rare North-South encounter. The spectacle will be closely watched as China displays power and positions itself as the key player in Asia’s balance of power.

In an exclusive conversation with OneIndia News, Vlada Galan – Geopolitical Strategist; President & Chair, International Ukrainian Crisis Fund, says that Trump used India as a Pawn to pressure Putin into a Summit. Vlada however clears that the sanctions on India were nothing personal against India and only a pressure-tactic against Putin, which played a role to some extent to get the Alaska meeting in place.

During the live coverage of the historic Trump–Putin meeting in Alaska, a heated debate broke out between Burzine Waghmar SOAS, University of London, and journalist Nagen Singh of OneIndia News. Waghmar argued that Russia’s economy is overheated and claimed Putin cannot sustain the Ukraine war beyond a year. He also questioned India’s obsession with Moscow and the romanticization of Indo-Russian ties. Countering him, Singh accused the West of hypocrisy and blamed the UK and U.S. for India’s deep-rooted closeness with Russia.

In a fiery White House exchange, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung sided with U.S. President Donald Trump as both leaders accused Joe Biden of enabling North Korea’s nuclear rise. President Lee told Trump the Korean peninsula was “stable” during Trump’s first term, but claimed North Korea advanced its weapons program significantly under Biden’s watch. Trump immediately seized the moment, declaring, “They would not have done that if I were President,” to which Lee replied, “I completely agree with you.” The dramatic on-camera moment is fueling debate in Washington and Seoul, with critics warning that such public criticism of Biden could inflame U.S. domestic politics and reshape Korean diplomacy. Supporters of Trump, however, hailed the remarks as proof that his strongman approach had kept Pyongyang in check. The sharp rebuke leaves Biden facing fresh questions over his North Korea policy.

Russia’s missile strike on the U.S.-owned Flex factory in Ukraine was seen as a potential turning point in the war. But instead of lifting the ban on deep Ukrainian strikes inside Russia, President Trump responded with a tweet blaming Biden—without directly condemning Putin. Even after Putin openly rejected Trump’s calls for talks, the U.S. president showed restraint, raising doubts about his approach to Moscow. With Ukraine seeking stronger support and Russia flexing military power, Trump’s silence underscores Putin’s upper hand in diplomacy.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump reacted sharply after Russian missile strikes destroyed an American-owned factory in Ukraine, accusing Joe Biden of weakness and incompetence. Trump argued that Ukraine cannot win the war without striking inside Russia, blasting Biden for only allowing Kyiv to “defend” instead of “fight back.” He claimed the invasion would have “zero chance” of happening if he were in office, declaring that Biden’s failed leadership emboldened Moscow. The attack, which hit a U.S. electronics plant in western Ukraine, has intensified tensions and raised fears that Russia is deliberately targeting American investments. Trump’s fiery comments come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warns that Vladimir Putin does not want peace but seeks to install a Russian-controlled puppet regime. With Washington and Europe scrambling for security guarantees, Trump’s blunt remarks signal deep divisions in U.S. policy as the war enters a new, dangerous phase.

Donald Trump has introduced a new strategy to deter illegal immigration: painting the southern border wall black. Kristi Noem revealed the move, saying the black paint will absorb more heat, making the wall harder to climb while extending its durability. Border officials claim construction is advancing at half a mile per day, with added sensors and cameras. Interim El Paso Sector Chief Walter Slosar said migrant apprehensions have dropped dramatically, highlighting Trump’s tougher enforcement compared to Biden.

The high-stakes White House summit between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and EU leaders has ended in deadlock. Trump pushed a radical shift from Biden’s massive aid packages to direct U.S. weapons sales via EU partners, while Putin dismissed the peace framework as a direct threat to Russia. With “territorial adjustments” floated as part of a land-for-peace approach, the summit has exposed deep divides on the future of Ukraine.

President Donald Trump has nominated State Department spokesperson and longtime Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce as the next U.S. deputy representative to the United Nations. Bruce, a fierce defender of Trump’s “America First” policies, has served as State Department spokesperson since his inauguration in January. Known for defending the administration’s tough stances on immigration, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and Israel’s Gaza offensive, Bruce is expected to bring combative rhetoric to the UN stage.
Her appointment will require Senate confirmation, where Republicans hold a majority. Trump praised her “fantastic job” at State, while Bruce called the role an honor and vowed to continue advancing U.S. priorities abroad. She will serve under Mike Waltz, Trump’s pick for UN envoy, whose confirmation is pending. The move signals Trump’s push for loyalist voices in high-profile diplomatic posts at a time of intense geopolitical tensions.
