Starmer accuses Govt of 'spinning' the autumn statement
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer accuses the Government of trying to "spin" the budget delivered yesterday by chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
Mr Starmer says "whichever way the Government tried to spin the autumn statement, the reality is that living standards are dropping, the tax burden is going up and that disposable income at the end of this government is going to be less than it was at the beginning for ordinary working people." The opposition leader also adds that his party would face "tough choices" if it wins the next general election, due to "13 years of failure".

A "fantastic, historic day" — but is this trade deal really as good as it sounds? President Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer hail their new agreement, but there's more to this deal than meets the eye. This isn’t a full trade deal — it focuses on specific sectors like cars, steel, and agriculture.
Trump’s tariff reductions on UK exports, especially on cars and steel, might seem like a win, but the devil is in the details. With the 10% export tariff still in place for many UK goods, is this a victory for Britain or a compromise hidden behind the headlines?
Is this really the breakthrough the UK has been waiting for, or just a strategic move by Trump to secure better deals from other nations? Watch as we break down the key points and potential long-term consequences of this deal.
