Delhi: Professor Arnold Dix, an international tunnelling expert who provided important technical support on the ground in the Uttarakhand tunnel rescue operation, says, "Before I arrived here, I knew this region was a very sacred area for Hindu people.
Also, I knew the purpose of this tunnel was to allow pilgrims to go between sacred temples.
There was an epic dimension to this mission.
It is a Himalayan mountain; it doesn't get any bigger than that."

The court was hearing a plea by an NGO that challenged the orders issued by the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand government. The order directed shop owners and eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display the names of their owners.

After fuelling up in Karu, the last petrol station before Tandi, they travelled through notable stops like Upshi, where they thanked the Border Roads Organisation for their tireless efforts. They climbed Tanglang La, one of the highest motorable passes, and paused at Debring for a meal. The route offered breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas, More Plains' flatlands, and the challenging passes of Lachulung La and Nakee La. They navigated the thrilling Gata Loops before finally arriving at Sarchu, the night's halt, where they enjoyed a warm dinner, marking another day in their tribute to Kargil heroes
