Post Office scandal: Anger grows as MPs return from recess
Public and political calls for redress for the victims of the Post Office scandal continue to grow as MPs return from their Christmas recess.
The prime minister and the Labour leader have joined calls for Paula Vennells to be stripped of her CBE, as a petition calling for the former Post Office CEO to lose the honour surpasses one million signatures.
On a visit to Lancashire on Monday, Rishi Sunak said he wanted to speed up the compensation process for victims. Meanwhile, Sir Keir Starmer, a former head of the Crown Prosecution Service, has called for prosecution powers to be taken away from the Post Office.

Angela van den Bogerd, a former senior director at the Post Office, arrived at the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry on Thursday morning. She began with an apology on the first of her two days of giving evidence, telling the inquiry she was "truly, truly sorry" for the "devastation" caused to wrongly convicted sub-postmasters and their families. Errors in the Post Office's Horizon IT system meant money appeared to be missing from many branch accounts when, in fact, it was not. As a result, more than 700 sub-postmasters were handed criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015. Report by Jonesia. A secret audio recording obtained by ITV News has revealed Post Office boss Paula Vennells was told directly about problems with the Horizon system and warned not to cover them up. In a meeting with independent investigators from Second Sight on July 2, 2013, Ms Vennells was made aware of allegations that sub-postmaster branch accounts could be accessed remotely. This is something the Post Office had denied for years. Mental health minister Maria Caulfield said the government are making maternity care a priority after a parliamentary inquiry into birth trauma found "poor care is all frequently tolerated as normal, and women are treated as an inconvenience".
