Farmers’ Protest: Haryana Police warns to revoke Passports, Visas of protesting farmers | Oneindia
With a decision on resuming their march to Delhi expected to be made by farmers on Thursday, the cancellation of passports and visas of those involved in violence during the agitation is being sought by the Haryana Police.
Protesting farmers from Punjab have been camping at the Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab-Haryana border since February 13 after their march to the national capital was halted by security personnel.
A decision on the march is anticipated to be taken by them on February 29.
The farmers are demanding the acceptance of their demands by the central government, including a legal guarantee for a minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver.
Public outrage has forced the Delhi government to pause its controversial plan to deny fuel to over 62 lakh "End of Life" vehicles — including cars, bikes, trucks, and even vintage automobiles. The now-on-hold EOL policy targeted petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel ones older than 10, with fuel stations set to use number plate recognition to block refueling.
But after massive backlash from citizens — especially those with well-maintained older vehicles and valid pollution certificates — the government is rethinking its move. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa cited “technological challenges” and announced a shift in focus: targeting poorly-maintained vehicles instead of penalizing all old ones.
