Alexei Navalny: Russian court rejects Navalny mother’s case alleging improper medical care| Oneindia
A lawsuit filed by the mother of the late Russian opposition figure, Alexei Navalny, alleging inadequate medical care during his time in the Arctic penal colony where he passed away, has been dismissed.
The court in the town of Labytnangi, near the penal colony, rejected the suit, citing Navalny's absence as the plaintiff.
Ivan Zhdanov, a former aide to Navalny, expressed dismay over the decision, highlighting Navalny's history of filing lawsuits regarding medical care in prisons.
The dismissal, Zhdanov noted, comes with a tone of mockery, given Navalny's tragic demise.
Putin Fear Grips the West? In a dramatic escalation, NATO has ordered a fivefold increase in missile defense systems across Europe amid growing fears of Russian aggression. As President Putin ramps up military activity near NATO borders, alliance leaders are scrambling to seal defense gaps from the Arctic to Eastern Europe. Defense ministers are meeting in Brussels, and even countries like Iceland—without an army—are stepping up. The West braces for what could be a defining standoff.

Canada is weighing joining the US in President Donald Trump’s ambitious “Golden Dome” missile defense initiative, aimed at shielding against threats like ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Chief of Defence Staff Jennie Carignan affirmed strong US-Canada military ties amid rising geopolitical tensions. While China and Russia warn against space militarization, Ottawa stresses defense, not provocation. Trump promises operational status by term-end, while Canada increases Arctic vigilance.
