Bangladesh's President ordered the release of jailed opposition leader Khaleda Zia after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled amid violent protests.
Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman took control, announcing an interim government.
Zia, Hasina's arch-rival and former Prime Minister, was imprisoned in 2018 on corruption charges.
Labour MP Tulip Siddiq says allegations by Bangladeshi authorities against her are a "politically motivated smear campaign" and insists there is "no evidence that I've done anything wrong". Tensions have also risen due to Sheikh Hasina's asylum in India and growing Bangladesh-Pakistan military ties. Though Dhaka requested prior bilateral talks, Modi initially declined.
