‘The Fighting Leader’ Declared: Abu Obeida Swears Loyalty to Yahya Sinwar in Hamas Power Shift
In a significant development within the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, Yahya Sinwar has been appointed as the new leader following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31.
The announcement was made after days of deliberation by the Hamas shura council, which unanimously elected Sinwar to head the organisation.
Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed Sinwar’s appointment in a statement released on the group’s Telegram channel.
The Al-Qassam Brigades have pledged their unwavering allegiance to Sinwar, emphasising their readiness to carry out his directives.
Obeida described Sinwar’s selection as a testament to Hamas’s vitality, unity, and strength despite the recent loss of Haniyeh.
