A recent earthquake in central Syria has stirred distressing memories of last year's devastating tremor, although it has had only a minor impact this time around.
Measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale and striking 28 kilometers east of Hama, the quake was also felt in Damascus and Beirut, prompting residents to take to the streets in fear of aftershocks.
The US Geological Survey has confirmed the quake’s magnitude as 5.0 with a depth of 10 kilometers.
Fortunately, local authorities have reported no deaths or significant damage following the event, providing some relief amidst ongoing regional anxieties.
Israel airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs killed three people and wounded seven, targeting a Hezbollah militant accused of assisting Hamas operatives. The attack further strains the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides blaming each other for recent escalations. The strike comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with Israel citing self-defense against rocket attacks from Lebanon. Civilians fled the area in panic, fearing further attacks.
