UNRWA: Risk of famine in Gaza without swift action
In a wide-ranging interview with Euronews in Brussel, UNRWA Gaza director Scott Anderson drew a devastating picture of the situation in the Palestinian territory, underlining acute food shortages.
Without swift action, a full-blown man-made famine could afflict life in Gaza, he claimed.
In a chilling propaganda display, Hamas handed released hostages bizarre “gift bags” featuring photos of their captivity, a commemorative Gaza photo, and gold-gilded “certificates of release.” The released hostages, Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher, described the gesture as a “cynical game” aimed at psychological manipulation. Video footage shared by Hamas shows the hostages being escorted through Gaza City by a motorcade of armed, masked terrorists, with crowds mobbing the vehicles. Eventually handed over to the Red Cross, the hostages were transported to safety, marking the first phase of a cease-fire deal.
