For more than four decades, the Golf GTI has been the standard by which all high-performance hatchbacks are measured.

Over eight generations, the formula of style, refinement, practicality, and spirited performance has remained consistent.

And as with its predecessors, the Mk8 GTI continues the tradition with a wide scope of improvements.

For the 2025 model year, the Golf GTI continues with three main trims—S, SE, and Autobahn.

In addition to new exterior and interior design elements, the 2025 GTI benefits from upgraded technology, interface improvements, and an expanded range of driver assistance features.

MSRP for the 2025 Golf GTI starts at $32,445 for the S trim and destination is $1,225.

For 2025, the Golf GTI’s effective blend of style and performance-focused functionality is accentuated by revised headlight- and bumper designs as well as illumination for both the upper grille and VW logo.

New GTI badging on the front doors announces this hatchback’s performance intent, while new paint color offerings complement the refreshed look.

The eighth-generation Golf GTI is again based on the successful MQB modular transverse architecture, in this case allowing for even sportier proportions.

While the wheelbase remains unchanged from the previous generation, at 103.6 inches, the car is now longer, at 168.9 inches.

At 57.7 inches high and 70.4 inches wide, the new GTI looks planted, thanks to the wide air intakes at the front and a striking shoulder line.

Each body panel on the Mk8 was created from scratch, with Volkswagen designers and aerodynamicists collaborating to hone the Golf GTI.

A range of individual measures were taken, including aero-optimized exterior mirrors, a bespoke GTI roof spoiler, extensive underbody paneling, and aerodynamically refined wheelarch linings.

Intensive wind tunnel development has returned impressive results, with a drag coefficient of 0.31 and an optimized lift balance.
