Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker steps down

Akbar Al Baker, the CEO of Qatar Airways, will step down from his position on November 5, 2013, after leading the airline for 27 years. During his tenure, the airline grew from five planes to 284. Al Baker had expressed interest in India, including investing in IndiGo and starting an airline there, but these plans did not materialize. He thanked his employees for their dedication and said that Qatar Airways is now among the finest airlines globally.
