Amit Shah meets women leaders, prominent people, civil society groups in Manipur
Tuesday, 30 May 2023 In his efforts to bring back peace in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday met various Meitei and Kuki groups which expressed their commitment for peace and assured that they would work for restoring normalcy in the trouble-torn state.Shah also held a security review meeting with senior officials of Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Army and said peace and prosperity of Manipur are the government's top priority.
5 people lost their lives in a fresh round of violence in Manipur. The incident comes just hours before Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state.

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives in an attack by Kuki militants starting from midnight till 2:15 am at Naransena area in Manipur. Before the forces retaliated they (militants) fired on camp inmates, and four personnel got serious injuries out of which two succumbed to the injuries. Investigation will be done and we will take action against them. We will not spare them and bring them to the Court of law. They will have to pay for this as per the law of the land... This is the first time that they have attacked the forces, none of the militants of Meiteis or Kukis attacked the forces as the forces are here to maintain peace and that is how we are in the middle of both communities. They call these forces (paramilitary) neutral forces... Earlier, you might have seen that the groups are attacking the national infrastructure like the roads and towers. Now, they are attacking central forces. How can this be tolerated?..."
