Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023 gets Parliament nod
Wednesday, 9 August 2023 The Rajya Sabha has passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023, with important provisions to protect citizens' rights and curb the misuse of their digital data by online platforms. The legislation proposes a penalty of up to Rs 250 crore ($33.5m) on entities that mismanage or misuse individuals' data. An independent Data Protection Board will be created and appeal can be made to telecom tribunal TDSAT and the Supreme Court above this board.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi by announcing his intention to visit the BJP headquarters with AAP leaders, daring the PM to arrest them all.
