IAF to buy 156 more ‘Prachand’ Light Combat helicopters for deployment along China, Pakistan borders
Friday, 29 September 2023 In a major push for the Centre's 'Make in India' initiative, the Indian Air Force is planning to place an order for 156 more Prachand Light Combat Helicopters with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), reported ANI.The choppers will be deployed both in the eastern and western sectors by the IAF and Indian Army, giving forces more muscle along the China and Pakistan borders.
The forest department in Nainital has called for the assistance of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army to combat a relentless forest fire that has been raging for over 36 hours, consuming numerous hectares of lush greenery. Helicopters have been deployed by the district administration to aid in firefighting efforts. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced plans to convene a meeting to address the escalating situation of the Nainital forest fire in Haldwani district.
