Heavy rain pounded the Thiruvananthapuram district on October 15, turning entire neighbourhoods into waterlogged fields and causing scores of residents in low-lying flood-prone areas abutting urban canals to scramble for higher ground.
Cyclone Michaung is currently moving north-northwestwards. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts further intensification, with the cyclone expected to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam on December 5 as a severe cyclonic storm. Tamil Nadu is bracing for impact of the Cyclone Michaung.
