Indian Army's first vertical wind tunnel installed at special forces training school in HP
Wednesday, 25 October 2023 The Indian Army has inaugurated its first vertical wind tunnel (VWT) at a training school in Himachal Pradesh. The state-of-the-art facility will simulate real-life free fall conditions, allowing military trainees to enhance their skills in combat free fall (CFF). The VWT creates a controlled environment with specific air velocities, enabling trainees to practice different CFF scenarios. The installation of the VWT is part of the Indian Army's efforts to modernize its training infrastructure and improve operational readiness.
The forest department in Nainital has called for the assistance of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army to combat a relentless forest fire that has been raging for over 36 hours, consuming numerous hectares of lush greenery. Helicopters have been deployed by the district administration to aid in firefighting efforts. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced plans to convene a meeting to address the escalating situation of the Nainital forest fire in Haldwani district.
