Rapper Badshah quizzed over promoting betting app during IPL matches
Monday, 30 October 2023 Rapper-singer Badshah was questioned by Maharashtra cyber police for promoting FairPlay, a betting app under investigation for money-laundering. Media company Viacom18 filed a complaint stating that FairPlay illegally streamed IPL matches, causing a loss of Rs 100 crore. Badshah's advocate clarified that he was questioned as a witness, not as an accused. Maharashtra cyber police may also call other celebrities, including actor Sanjay Dutt, for further statements. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had previously investigated FairPlay as part of its probe into Mahadev Online Book app.
