Summons to UP governor gets Budaun SDM suspended

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday suspended Budaun's sub-divisional magistrate (judicial) for issuing "summons" to UP governor Anandiben Patel - under section 144 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code - to appear before the court in a land dispute case. The governor's office was mentioned in the case after land of almost half an acre belonging to Katori Devi, an elderly woman, was allegedly "grabbed" by her kin Lekhraj. Earlier this year, a part of the land was acquired by the PWD and Lekhraj received compensation from the government.
