Draft reports on bills to replace criminal laws likely to be adopted on Monday

A parliamentary committee in India is set to adopt draft reports on three bills that aim to replace existing criminal laws. The committee had faced opposition members requesting more time to study the measures in detail. The proposed legislation seeks to replace the Indian Penal Code, The Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act with Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, respectively.
