Ayodhya sets new Guinness World record, lights 22.23 lakh diyas on Diwali eve

Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh has set a new Guinness World Record by lighting 22.23 lakh earthen lamps across 51 ghats during its Deepotsav celebration. The previous record was 17 lakh diyas. The tradition of Deepotsav began in 2017 and has grown in scale each year. The lamps lit in 2022 exceeded 17 lakh, but the Guinness Book of World Records only considered those that remained lit for five minutes or more, setting the record at 15,76,955. The celebration included a procession featuring tableaux on various themes from the Ramayana, social issues, and government initiatives.
