Monday, 11 December 2023 Ujjain South MLA Mohan Yadav has been announced as the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh by the BJP. This decision ends veteran leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan's bid for a record fifth term. The BJP won a resounding mandate in the state elections, securing 163 seats out of 230, while the Congress finished a distant second with 66 seats. Many political analysts had anticipated a change in the CM face, and the party appointed three central observers to decide the new CM's name.
