China names former navy chief Dong Jun as new defence minister | All about him | Oneindia
On Friday, China appointed former Navy chief Dong Jun as the new Defense Minister, replacing Li Shangfu, who mysteriously disappeared four months ago after being fired.
Although the reasons for Li Shangfu's disappearance were not specified, Dong's appointment comes at a time of increased military tensions, particularly concerning Taiwan, and aligns with China's ongoing efforts to enhance its military capabilities.
The appointment of Dong Jun as China's Defense Minister is a strategic move in line with President Xi Jinping's broader vision to position China as a leading global power.
