Karnataka government announces conditional waiver of interest on farm loans, BJP demands full write-off
On the last day of winter session of Karnataka legislature in Belagavi on Friday, CM Siddaramaiah announced conditional waiver of interest on farm loans and establishment of industrial parks in north Karnataka to fast-track development of the region & generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. The CM said since farmers are in distress due to the drought, the government will help them by waiving loan interest availed by them from cooperative societies & banks only if they have repaid the principal amount in full.
