Sharad Pawar welcomes suspension of WFI, says decision should have been taken earlier

NCP chief Sharad Pawar welcomed the suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), but said the Sports Ministry should have taken the decision earlier. The ministry suspended the WFI for not following its constitution while making decisions. Pawar mentioned a complaint about objectionable conduct towards women wrestlers and expressed support for the decision. The government cited the WFI's hasty announcement of organizing age group national championships without proper procedure and notice as the reason for the suspension.
