The bill, introduced by RJD lawmaker AD Singh, addresses the demand for 'special status' by both RJD and JD(U) due to Bihar's revenue loss after bifurcation. The Centre has previously denied special category status to any state, but Bihar's backwardness and the President's recommendation offer new hope. In 2018, the Centre agreed to provide special assistance to Andhra Pradesh to compensate for the additional central share.
