Friday, 12 April 2024 () BJP dropped Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar from its roster of star campaigners in the state. A revised list of 40 star campaigners, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was presented to the Election Commission of India by the party. The NCP (SCP) faction had filed a complaint with the ECI accusing the BJP of breaching the Representation of the People Act and electoral code by featuring names of politicians from other parties as its star campaigners.
Actor Govinda made a surprising political move on Thursday by joining Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena party, injecting a dose of glamour into the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state. On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary.
