Government sanctions Rs 3,027.86 crore for disaster mitigation projects in states

A high-level committee chaired by union home minister Amit Shah has approved Rs 3,027.86 crore for disaster mitigation projects in several states. These include lightning safety initiatives in 50 high-risk districts, drought assistance to 12 states, and forest fire risk management in 144 districts across 19 states. The committee also approved urban flood and landslide risk mitigation projects. Additionally, over Rs 24,981 crore has been disbursed this year from various disaster funds to support state-level disaster response and mitigation efforts.
