Russia has launched its largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began, according to Ukrainian officials. Overnight, a staggering 537 aerial weapons — including 477 drones and decoys, and 60 missiles — were fired at targets across Ukraine.
Ukraine's air force reported that 249 were shot down and 226 were likely disrupted by electronic jamming. Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s air force, called the strike “the most massive air attack” yet. Areas far from the frontlines, including western Ukraine, were hit. Poland scrambled jets to protect its airspace. Casualties included one dead in Kherson and six injured in Cherkasy, including a child. This assault follows a wave of similar attacks earlier this month, which had already been labelled the most powerful at that point in the war. Damage was reported in Kharkiv, where multiple residential buildings and houses were struck. The escalation signals a grim turn in the nearly three-year conflict.

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg made a surprise appearance at Budapest Pride, turning the annual LGBTQ parade into a loud political statement against Viktor Orbán’s right-wing government.
Speaking at the march, Thunberg accused the Hungarian leadership of trying to “ban love” and labeled the event a protest against what she called “fascist” attacks on human rights. Her presence quickly drew backlash. Balázs Orbán, political director to the Prime Minister, took to X (formerly Twitter) to mock Thunberg as a “young, angry person” offering “unsolicited advice,” also referencing her “failed Gaza activism.”
The event highlights the deepening tensions in Hungary over LGBTQ rights and government control, as critics say Orbán's policies continue to shrink civil liberties. The government insists it is defending traditional values. Thunberg’s visit further fuels the culture war now at the center of Hungary’s politics — and one that's drawing international attention.

Former President Barack Obama has issued a stark warning about the direction of U.S. democracy, accusing Donald Trump and his allies of weakening democratic norms and echoing authoritarian tactics. Speaking at an event in Connecticut and in a separate interview, Obama compared the U.S. to nations like Hungary and Russia, where elections happen but leaders ignore the people’s voice. He urged judges, officials, and citizens to protect the Constitution and reject misinformation, warning that when truth is lost, dictatorship begins to take root.
