'Govt won't take hasty decision': DK Shivakumar on Karnataka caste census report
Sunday, 13 April 2025 Karnataka's Deputy CM, DK Shivakumar, has stated that the state government will not make any hasty decisions regarding the 'caste census' report. The report, which was recently presented to the cabinet, suggests increasing the OBC quota to 51%. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge refrained from commenting until he reviews the report, while dominant communities express reservations about the survey.
The Supreme Court has directed the immediate removal of stray dogs from Delhi-NCR, giving the government eight weeks to arrange proper shelters. The order comes amid rising complaints over stray dog attacks and public safety concerns. Authorities have been tasked with ensuring humane relocation, adequate food, and medical care for the animals, while balancing public health and safety. Animal rights groups are expected to closely monitor the implementation of the court’s directive.
