Can't stop Kamal film screening due to threat of mob violence: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court intervened in the 'Thug Life' film screening issue. It stated that rule of law is paramount, not public sentiment. Karnataka cannot allow mobs to obstruct a CBFC-cleared film. The court transferred Kamal Haasan's petition to itself. It asked the state government to respond to a PIL. Freedom of speech must be protected, the court noted.
