Birthday turns tragic: Surat teen dies by suicide, parents went to buy cake; cops probing scolding or unmet gift demand

A tragic incident unfolded in Surat's Bhestan area as 16-year-old Ashutosh Pradhan, a Class 9 student, died by suicide on his birthday. He hanged himself at his residence when his parents had stepped out to purchase his birthday cake. Dindoli police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated investigations.
