People with essential tremor may have increased risk of dementia

Research presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 76th Annual Meeting suggests that people with essential tremor have a higher risk of developing dementia compared to the general population. However, the prevalence of dementia is lower than in people with Parkinson's disease. Physicians should educate individuals with essential tremor and their families about the increased risk and potential life changes.
