Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan files petition seeking bail in cipher case

IndiaTimes Friday, 3 November 2023
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking bail in the cipher case after his post-arrest bail pleas were rejected by the Islamabad High Court. Khan and his ally, ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, were indicted last week for disclosing a secret diplomatic cable sent by the country's embassy in Washington. The charge sheet filed against them invokes sections of the Official Secrets Act that carry a potential death sentence or up to 14 years' imprisonment.
