Russia loads missile with nuclear-capable glide vehicle into launch silo
Thursday, 16 November 2023 Russia has loaded an intercontinental ballistic missile with the nuclear-capable "Avangard" hypersonic glide vehicle into a launch silo in southern Russia. The Avangard glide vehicle can maneuver at hypersonic speeds and was developed in response to the US's development of new weapons and missile defense systems. Both Russia and the US have expressed concern about the breakdown of arms-control treaties, while also developing new weapons systems. Russia claims that US dominance is crumbling and accuses it of causing global chaos.
