President Ram Nath Kovind led the nation in reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India on the occasion of Constitution Day, which is celebrated on November 26.
The event was organised via video conferencing.
On this day, in 1949, the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly.
Kovind made the donation to a delegation of Shree Ram Jambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which visited him at 11am on Friday. Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri, VHP.. IndiaTimes
On Jan 15, President Ram Nath Kovind made the first contribution towards the construction of Ram Mandir, which is to be built in UP's Ayodhya. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) working president, Alok Kumar said, "He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to initiate this drive. He donated a sum of Rs 5,01,000." Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also made the contribution for construction of Ram Mandir. He handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to a leader of Vishva Hindu Parishad. He said, "I am grateful to be part of such mission." Ram Mandir is to be built at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi in UP's Ayodhya.
Soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces read the Preamble to the Constitution of India at Siachen Glacier to mark the Constitution Day on Nov 26. The Day is celebrated on November 26 each year to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949. It came into force on January 26, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of the Indian Republic.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on November 26 said BR Ambedkar played an essential role in formation of our Constitution. He said, "BR Ambedkar played an essential role in formation of our Constitution. On National Constitution Day we pledge to protect it. It's the responsibility of elected institutions to safeguard Constitution and our duty to uplift every class keeping its spirit." On this day, in 1949, the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly.
On the occasion of India's Constitution Day, soldiers deployed in Siachen and Kargil recited the preamble to the Constitution. They 'reaffirmed their commitment' to the Constitution, the Defence MInistry said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the nation and stressed on the importance of performance of duties in order to safeguard rights. Giving a mantra of KYC, or 'Know Your Constitution', he said that people need to gain a 'comprehensive understanding' of the document. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, also led the nation in recitation of the preamble. India's Constituent Assembly had adopted the Constitution on November 26, 1949. Watch the full video for more.
