25-year-old and first girl from Srinagar, who is reviving the centuries old cultural and traditional folk art known as "Ladishah" in local language.
Syed Areej Safvi writes and performs Ladishah, a form of satire in verse.
Safvi makes commentaries on social and political conditions in the society.
Syed Areej Safvi is preserving the art and trying to attract people to it.
Ladishah is performed by men but now this girl is writing and performing the art, which makes her the first girl from Kashmir to perform the male dominated art.
It is a type of folk ballad with humor forming an essential part of its presentation.
In earlier days, Ladishah was performed in villages and towns to highlight the social issues.
But due to the modernization, social media and other things have lost the glory of a number of cultural and traditional things and Ladishah is one of them.
Areej also bagged an award at Khatoon-e-Kashmir award 2021 in the art, culture and entrepreneurship category.
Youth of the Kashmir are excelling in every field and are making the Union Territory and the nation proud.

In the frigid streets of Leh, Ladakh's capital, a sense of betrayal and fury hangs heavy in the air. Renowned climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's steadfast hunger strike, now in its fifteenth day, amplifies the urgency of his cause. Wangchuk's 'fast unto death' protest echoes his impassioned plea for constitutional safeguards for Ladakh as a Union Territory and the preservation of its fragile ecosystem against the encroachment of industrial and mining interests.
Accompanied by a multitude of local residents, Wangchuk stands as a symbol of resilience, reminding the Indian Government of its solemn commitments to safeguard Ladakh's environment and uphold its tribal indigenous culture.
