20-yr-old Farhan becomes Kashmir's youngest qualified commercial pilot
A 20-year-old youth from the Awantipora town of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district has obtained the license of a commercial pilot.
Farhan Majeed is the youngest Kashmiri to have achieved this feat.
Farhan Majeed after passing his 12th standard from Mantaqui Higher Secondary School in Awantipora joined the flying academy Global Konnect Aviation Services Private Ltd in Uttarakhand to get trained as a commercial pilot.
Speaking to ANI, Farhan Majeed said, "All the credit goes to my parents and family members and with the help and blessings of God I received a commercial pilot license.
I received my license as a commercial pilot during last year in November, 2020." "There is an airbase of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Malangpora and we can hear the sounds of helicopters and other planes all day and night.
This motivated me to become a pilot," he added.
Abdul Majeed, father of Farhan is very proud of his son.
Talking to ANI, Abdul said, "My son Farhan Majeed has become a commercial pilot.
He has got license of commercial pilot and I am proud of him.
I am the happiest person in the world." "Difficulties will come but I faced those difficulties boldly," he added.
In a seminar themed "Tapping the potential of Kashmir- Another Day in Paradise'' organized by the tourism department, MasterChef India winner Pankaj Bhadouria presented a live cooking demonstration. Students of Hotel Management (IHM) Srinagar and delegates from other countries including Kenya participated in the seminar. The program was organised by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Srinagar.
Two terrorists and three associates were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. Police seized arms and ammunition from the possession of the terrorists and their aides. Police said that as per the preliminary probe those arrested were working for Al-Badr terror outfit. “We acted on specific information regarding movement of terrorists in the area. A special checkpoint was established near Kachloo Crossing by security forces. During checking of vehicles, three people were apprehended by the alert forces. They were riding a motorcycle and tried to escape from the spot initially. After interrogation, they revealed about two more people who were then nabbed,” a police official said. Two of the arrested were captured from Baderkali forest area following a search operation. Police said that they were planning to attack security forces installations.

Security forces eliminated three terrorists during an encounter in the Kakapora area of Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir. Forces had launched a search and cordon operation after they received information about presence of terrorists in the area. The operation turned into an encounter when the terrorists fired on the security forces. Several incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists. An encounter is underway at Kakapora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district between security forces and terrorists. Army received information about terrorists hiding in the residential area. More details are awaited.
A house guard of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anwar Khan was killed after his residence was attacked by terrorists on Thursday in Srinagar's Nowgam, Jammu and Kashmir police said. "One sentry Rameez Ahmad, critically injured in the attack succumbed to his injuries," said the police. This is not the first time that Khan has been attacked by terrorists. In 2018, terrorists had opened fire at the BJP leader at Khanmoh area in the Pulwama district. A police officer who was guarding him was injured in that attack. Watch the full video for more details.

To enhance its airbases' security, Indian Air Force has inducted 6-tonne Light Bullet Proof Vehicles. These vehicles can withstand any type of bullet and grenade attacks, and would help in countering any terrorist attack. These Light Bullet Proof Vehicle can carry 6 Garud commandos, Quick Reaction Team members.
The Indian Air Force has inducted Light Bulletproof Vehicles (LBVPs) for enhancing its airbases’ security. The vehicles weigh 6-tonnes and can withstand bullet and grenade attacks, as per reports. The Indian Air Force deployed a chopper for fire-fighting operation in Uttarakhand. It carried out the operation in forests of Koti Colony area of Tehri Garhwal. The water collected from Tehri lake was sprinkled with a 5000-litre capacity bucket. The IAF has also sent another chopper for the fire-fighting operation. Uttarakhand is witnessing unprecedented forest fires, officials informed. Forest fire activity is generally reported in Uttarakhand from February to June.
