Ahead of Assam assembly elections, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 08 said by doing an alliance with communal party Congress has polarised the election in the state.
He said, "By forging alliance with communal party Congress has polarised the election.
Had Congress contested separately, polls would have been fought on development issues.
But by aligning with AIUDF, Congress has made this poll a conflict of civilizations." Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6.
Congress has finally launched its digital media platform named 'INC TV'. The party said that the objective is to make Congress voice heard and reach more people. The platform will be available on YouTube. The party has, over the years, alleged that the mainstream media is biased against the Opposition, and the YouTube channel will allow it to convey its message directly to the public.

The Assamese New Year -Rongali Bihu, also known as Bohag Bihu began from April 14. Assam Government decided to allow celebrations this year, but with restrictions in public places. Assam recorded a voter turnout of nearly 75 percent in the second phase of polling, according to the latest figures from the Election Commission. The second phase election was held in 39 constituencies across 13 districts. According to EC data, the voter turnout was 74.76 percent at 7.30 pm. The polling ended at 6 pm.
