Such statements encourage crimes against women: Jaya Bachchan on Uttarakhand CM
Speaking on newly-elected Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat's controversial comments on wearing ripped jeans, Samajwadi Party leader and MP Jaya Bachchan on March 18 said it's a bad mindset and encourages crimes against women.
"Such statements don't befit a CM.
Those on higher posts must think and make public statements.
You say such things in today's times, you'll decide who's cultured and who's not based on clothes!
It's bad mindset and encourages crimes against women," Jaya said to ANI.
Earlier, Uttarakhand CM made a controversial statement and said, "Women wearing ripped jeans can't provide right environment at home for children."

In the heart of Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri, the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party, the party's cadre is rallying behind their local MP and party stalwart, Dimple Yadav, with an ambitious call – to see her as the next Prime Minister of India. As the region gears up for polling on May 7, the voices on the ground paint a picture of disillusionment with the incumbent BJP government, which they believe has failed to live up to its promises. The party workers allege that the ruling dispensation has neglected the needs and aspirations of the people, and they see Dimple Yadav as a beacon of hope – a leader who understands the grassroots issues and can steer the nation towards progress. With fervent support from the party's base, the Samajwadi Party is gearing up for a fierce battle, aiming to regain its foothold in the state and potentially propel Dimple Yadav to the national stage.
